Optional Exercise- Fundamentality of Nature

Nature is a fascinating worldview that is very complex and detailed. Studies such as ecology and biology that help us understand how the organisms around us are formed as well as ourselves. Biology focuses more on the study of life, the fundamentals, and how animals are structured, going into great detail. While ecology focuses more… Continue reading Optional Exercise- Fundamentality of Nature

Knowledge can be communicated through many different outlets and forms. Knowledge is something everyone can give because everyone has their own experiences that have shaped the knowledge that they now have. This also makes knowledge accessible to all because there is almost infinite things that you can learn about. It goes along with the saying… Continue reading Blog Entry 6

Project 3 Poetics and Reflection

Poetics- For my first page I made the theme overwhelming about being Swedish because to me it is very important to represent being different than everyone else. Not many people have dual citizenship and have grown up in Europe and America, also speaking two languages. The flag in the upper right corner is the county flag of the city that I call my second home, Göteborg. I chose to do this because I make it very obvious on my social media accounts that I am Swedish. I post many things about Sweden, soccer, and will sometimes write my posts in Swedish to keep things fresh. For schooling I let it be known that I attend the University of Colorado, while maybe making fun of CSU at times…. but in all seriousness I am proud to represent this great university. To clarify Snerikes, it is a nation which is a group of students that do many various activities together and is where I ended up meeting my current girlfriend. It played a big part in my time studying in Sweden. For entertainment I picked a few things that really represented me on social media platform. Those are the topics I mostly post about on my sites. My digital forms are sort of limited but I would say my two biggest platforms are Facebook and Youtube, and that Sweden, soccer, football, basketball, sneakers, and hip hop videos are me in a nutshell. That would be most of my posts and viewed videos. I hope with the screencast video and this writing helps clarify my page.                    Screencast video- https://www.wevideo.com/view/533257134

Reflection- I had a hard time figuring out what was going to be on my page, but once I scrolled through my Facebook page for a few minutes it became so clear. It was interesting to me that I thought this was going to be super hard but after 5 minutes on Facebook I had all I needed to fill four pages. I guess I never really think about what I post, or like what the impact of me sharing this video is, etc. By looking at my Facebook and Instagram, the four main topics I found was CU, Sweden, Sports, and Hip Hop songs. When asked to describe myself in person to explain who I was it would be more complex, but online it seems like I have four basic themes that overrule how I would be identified by. This could be because I am not that involved with posting my whole life on social media like others. I just sort of put surface level stuff or hobbies on my pages. I don’t believe I have ever done a commentary on a social or political event or anything like that. So I do not broadcast my beliefs online whether it be on political or social issues. I’d rather have those types on conversation in person and think going back and forth over the internet is silly.

I think that I did a pretty good job of representing myself as portrayed on social media. But I found that my page might be a little bit boring compared to others, because of the fact that I do not have that strong of a online presence. It hopefully makes it easier to communicate to someone looking at it, although this was not intentional or un-intentional. The multi-modal aspect of this was difficult for me because I am not too savvy with all these programs you can use. I’m happy you gave us tools last week else my page would have been very stagnant. I believe I was still able to broadcast the aesthetics that I was going for on my site. Making a site about yourself is a tough thing, although just digitally, you want it to be aesthetically pleasing to whoever looks at it. Sort of like posting a picture of yourself and hoping you get likes on it on Facebook. While playing in to the concept of socio-cultural conventions, you want to portray yourself online the best “coolest”way you can so you can be accepted. It goes further than just having acceptance in real life, you also have to be accepted online as well to have the complete package. Some people have their whole social life online, which is crazy to me, but if that is where they feel comfortable then that is good. I thankfully grew up on the upstart of all this online mediation so I did not have to be so involved online to be socially accepted in real life as well.  This experience really opened me up to the idea that the online reality these days can be just as real as your reality offline. It is interesting that there is so much that can be said for how you act online and how you represent yourself every to others, even when you don’t consciously think about it.

Exercise #4

The experience I am going to talk about happened my sophomore year here at CU. Our basketball team was playing the Kansas Jayhawks. They were a top 10 team in the nation and we were looking for the upset. It was around noon and that morning was extremely cold and the snow was flurrying. Walking… Continue reading Exercise #4
